Professor Steve Bloom

Steve Bloom is Professor of Metabolic Medicine and Head of the Division of Investigative Science at Imperial College London. With John Burt he founded Thiakis in mid-2004 to advance the development of obesity therapies based on his research into the role of gut hormones in the regulation of appetite.
He is an internationally-recognised clinician and research scientist in the field of obesity. Honoured with fellowships to a number of learned societies, in 2003 he was awarded the Society for Endocrinology’s Dale Medal recognising his outstanding studies that changed the fundamental understanding of obesity.
Professor Bloom is a former chairman of the Society for Endocrinology, the British Diabetic Association Research Committee, the Medical Research Society and board member of National Institute for Biological Standards and Control.
